Another Important reason is the absence of human settlement and light pollution. This site recommended for turtle hatchery establishment

The mortality survey shows that the major cause for mortality might be Incidental catch. On the aspect of conservation and management, local people were interviewed to know about their level of awareness in turtle conservation. The survey showed that turtle egg consumption is the major threat. This would have considerable impact on the regeneration of the turtle population along the coast. Consumption by coastal folk has greatly linked to ancient customs and popular beliefs that it has the quality aphrodisiac.

The study concluded that karunkali is suitable stretch for establishing Hatchery in Pulicat coast. Poor awareness and knowledge on marine turtle is the root cause for the egg predation and degradation of the species.  Further details, pl contact us
