Marine Applied Biology

The Marine Chemistry and Biochemistry research group studies fundamental physical processes in the marine environment and their connection with, and influence on, the Bay, Gulf and Ocean systems. Our research spans are microscopic to medium scales, extends from the coast to open ocean. The group employs simple measurements from satellites and field data for modeling and prediction of coastal process, sediment transport and changes in coastal geomorphology.

We would collaborate widely with other research groups and work very closely with computer modellers to develop a complete description of coastal processes in multidimensional models, and thus provide better predictions of the impacts of coastal change. By combining real-time observations with state-of-the-art models we also contribute to operational modelling systems for environmental monitoring and coastal flood forecasting due to storm surges and tsunami.
