GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

 GENERAL

Journal of Marine Biology and Oceanography (JMBO) is a broad thematic, peer-reviewed open access International Journal and publishes research papers from all areas of Marine Sciences. Journal is published bimonthly with six issues in a year, ie., January, March, May, July, September and November. All the papers published in the Journal, are reviewed by a group of reviewers / referees for their scientific merit. Journal follows dual review system and the manuscript decisions are solely based on the results of peer reviews. Reviewers are necessarily assigned by the authors in their research field while submitting the manuscripts.  Indian reviewers may be paid the honorarium. Authors will be notified the acceptance, need for revision or re-revision or rejection. Once the paper is rejected that cannot be resubmitted. Editor reserves the right of rejecting the paper at any stage without assigning the reason. Rapid Publication Facility (RPF) and Technical Language Editing Facility (TLEF) are also available to authors.

AIMS AND SCOPE

Journal of Marine Biology and Oceanography publishes original research papers dealing with all aspects of Marine biology, Marine Pollution, Marine Biotechnology, Microbiology & Biochemistry, Toxicology, Fish & Fisheries, Marine chemistry, Marine Physics, coastal and inland aquaculture, Mariculture, Marine geology and Oceanography in English language. Scientists who use English as a foreign language are strongly recommended to have their manuscripts (MS) checked by a native English proficient colleague or English Editing Services for linguistic correctness, before submission.

OPEN ACCESS

All research papers published in Journal of Marine Biology and Oceanography are made available online in free mode immediately upon publication.

For enzymes, use the trivial names as recommended by IUPAC-IUB Commission. For abbreviations, standard international practices should be used. Full form of all abbreviations should be given at their first citation with abbreviations in the bracket e.g. ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS)

  7. REFERENCES

Use capital letters for headlines with proper numberings. All scientific names should be made italics (e.g. Penaeus indicus).

INTRODUCTION: It should precisely be included the aims of the study. It should be concise and specific with no sub-headings. Reviewing of literature should be avoided.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: It should be sufficiently explained the methodology of experiments to be executed. The techniques, study area and material to be used should be clearly explained with references.

RESULTS: Results may be split into sub-headings. Data emerging out from the study should be arranged in a unified and coherent sequence and statistically analyzed with significance. Results should be co-related and clearly represented. Position of Figures and Tables should be indicated in appropriate place in parenthesis. The same data should not be presented both in Tabular and Graphic forms.

DISCUSSION: Lengthy, confusing and irrelevant discussion should be scrupulously avoided. It should deal with right interpretations based on results and supported by relevant latest references. Repetitions should be curtailed. It should be ensured that the references cited should be current. Unpublished papers should not be included / cited in the paper.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS should include the names of those who contributed substantially to the work described in the manuscript but do not fulfill the requirements for the authorship. It should also include the sponsor or the funding agency of the project of which the paper is a part of.

REFERENCES should be cited in the Text by surname of the author(s) and the year e.g. Migal (2011); Luo and Hu (2013). In case of more than two authors, surname of the first author followed by et al. and the year should be cited in the text e.g. Anwele et al. (2015). If two or more papers were published by the same author in one year, distinction of these should be made by adding a, b or c  e.g. Chandra (2010 a, b).
